Fedor Will Not Fight in the UFC

I highly doubt we will see Fedor fighting in the UFC.  I gave my position on this subject several days ago before everything unfolded.  And now, most of the MMA blogs and media are running a story about Fedor’s management saying there is now a possibility of working with the UFC.  But at the end of each of these stories is a quote from Vadim Finkelchtein saying:

“We want to talk to the UFC about having Fedor compete against some of their fighters, but only within the framework of co-promotional efforts with M-1 Global.”

The part that says “…but only within the framework of co-promotional efforts with M-1…” is the nail in the coffin.  That’s the deal breaker, right there.  They want to add their name into UFC events.  Well I have a message for M-1:

I don’t want to see M-1 fight in the UFC, I want to see Fedor fight in the UFC.  Fuck off M-1.  That’s right, I want Fedor in the UFC and not you fuck heads.  I don’t care if I see your stupid logo or not while I watch Fedor fight.  I could give a shit less what happens with M-1.  The name M-1 doesn’t mean shit to me as a fan right now.  If it had a meaning, it would mean “fuck ups ruining shit”.  That’s all I see it as.  If I want M-1, I watch it on HD Net (when I had HD Net).  Fuck off.

From now on, whenever I see an M-1 Global logo attached to someone elses name, I know those people are morons for allowing M-1 to leech off their hard work.  The M-1 Global logo is becoming a badge of stupidity.  Think about it.

I would love to be wrong here, but I just don’t see the UFC working with guys like this.  I don’t blame the UFC.  Vadim and M-1 don’t exactly have a strong track record (Bodogfight, Affliction – both gone).  What did M-1 lose there?  To the common eye, it would appear that they reap all the benefits with very little risk on their part.  MMA companies keep trying to use Fedor to make money, but the only ones cashing in are M-1.  Everyone else goes under.  Seriously, it’s like a leech sucking an animal dry and moving on.  And from the way things are starting to look on the forums, Vadim and his crazy russian team are wearing thin on people.  Many are starting to look at them as the problem here, not Fedor or the UFC.

Well you know I feel the same here. I have got to the point that I now have no interest in Fedor and all the debates on him entering the UFC. I have been a big fan for years since his domination of Pride, but now I am sick and tired of hoping and waiting to see him fight in the UFC.

I have also started to chew over the fact that this may not be as simple as how we see it all. Perhaps we need to take into consideration more that Fedor is a Major share holder in M-1 with a financial interest in their success which is in turn contingent on his success hand in hand with M-1.

We tend to see him as a quiet humble family man of simple needs training hard in the dusty ole village square of stary olski hitting tractor tyres with a sledge hammer . Meanwhile devoted fan’s cry for him to defeat the dastardly Brock and his evil reign. If only that nasty man Dana would let him to do a little bit of Samba – he only wants to feel pride for his mother Russia. Or that nasty wasty man Vadim, yes Vadim he must be to blame!

The truth is that Vadim maybe no more then the messenger communicating Fedors will and Dana white is just doing his job which is protecting the financial interests of the UFC.

I see no one else to blame here. Fedor is a grown man and supposedly the # 1 ranked fighter in the world with all the power and influence that bestows. If he won’t go and fight where his fans want him to fight then fuck him…I will follow someone else who has fights that I can get excited about seeing.

This is backed up by Fedor’s brother as well now..

“You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about “strict” contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights”

So I just have to say this too…fuck you Finkelstein you cunt! get out of the fucking way of negotiations.

Luke – Fantastic response and thanks for digging into this topic. You know, I really hope fans like us are wrong about this. I really do. But, it’s hard for some of us to be positive because we’ve seen all this before. We’re a cynical bunch now, but who can blame us?

    On a side note:
You have an awesome site going (www.ukmmanews.com). Keep up the great work and I will be sure to keep up with you over there. It’s great to make new connections here with other hardcore fans who run their own sites. I think together we can all have some fun and it always helps keep me inspired to talk with other fans who have the same interests. Very cool indeed.

And now on Tuesday we have a report from the LA Times that says:

“A long-awaited agreement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the man considered the world’s best mixed martial arts fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today.

The source, who asked not to be identified because he’s not authorized to speak publicly about the dealings, called negotiations between the UFC and Fedor “very civil” just days after Fedor’s scheduled Affliction Trilogy fight Saturday against Josh Barnett was canceled.”

I still don’t believe it. Just don’t. But I would gladly be wrong here. I hope and pray to the MMA gods that I’m wrong.
