UFC 104 Pool Sheet Download

UFC104-poolsheet-thmb

Finally!  It’s here, the UFC 104 pool sheet.  I did two colors this time.  The image you see here is the “Dirty Green” color scheme.  To see the “Dirty Tan” color, just click the Dirty Green image.  Personally, I like how the green one prints better, but that’s just my opinion.

I know it’s posted a little later than normal as I usually get these out a week or two ahead of time, but I’ve been busy working the full time gig still, so my free time has been very rare.  But as always, I find time for you guys, my loyal bleeders.  Please feel free to share this on MMA forums or blogs all over, I encourage it.  Have fun and good luck!

And remember, I’m posting these for all the UFC events.  A new design for each event, all for you to use and enjoy with your friends.  Now, to answer some of your questions regarding the pool sheets.

1.) How does it work?

Simple.  You just circle the fighter’s name you think is going to win, then circle the round and method (or just mark on it some way, get creative).  Don’t forget to fill in your name at the top left.  Then using scissors, cut on the dotted line and carry the tab with you to fill in the actual results as the fights happen.  When it’s done, take your tab back and compare it to your picks.

2.) What are the game rules? How do you score the card?

The rules and points are printed on each card.

3.) How do I print it?  What are the best printer settings?

When I print them on my Epson, I set it for US Letter (No Borders).  I also select “scale to media“. The best paper to use is card stock, and they look really great when they’re done.

Of course, you don’t have to go through that.  You can just send them to print and it should look great, even if you have borders.  I just prefer no borders because it looks more professional.

You will notice it prints a little light.  That’s on purpose, for several reasons:

1.) It doesn’t use as much ink, saving you money on cartridges.
2.) It prints quicker, so you’re not waiting as long.  Time is money.
3.) Most importantly, it allows you to see any selections made with a highlighter or circles made with a pencil or pen.  Just makes it all around easier to see your picks.

And please, before printing out a bunch of these, check for typos.  I’m not perfect and miss things all the time.  So maybe print one, look it over, and continue with the rest if it all looks good.  If you do find a typo, read #6 below on how to contact me (or just leave a message here on this post).  I will work very fast to correct it.

4.) Are you going to make these for other events too besides just the UFC?

Sometimes, but it really just depends.  The problem with many other promotions is they just can’t seem to get their shit together.  They either announce cards really late or the card is constantly changing.  The UFC doesn’t have these problems nearly as much so I don’t have to do much editing when they do change.  But if there is enough of a request, I will certainly do so.

5.) Do you design other stuff?  How much do you charge?

I love designing promotional posters and fliers for all kinds of fight related events.  I am currently working for the TV industry, but I would love to do some work for anyone that needs some design done for their promotion or event.  Pricing is negotiable, just ask and we’ll get something worked out.

6.) Feedback?

If you have any suggestions or notice anything like a typo or incorrect fighters record, please  feel free to let me know.  You can also just post a comment here if you don’t want to email me directly.  I will try to adapt these as time goes on to your requests and needs.  Without any feedback, I wont know what to correct for you.

Great work again man, the only thing I see is that you didnt change the cut off section to this card, still have cro-cop dos santos and basically the rest of the card from 103 on it. Thanks again for the sweet pool sheets!

Hey welcome back Cameron – and thanks for the heads up on the cut off sheet. I’m fixing it now. It will be about 15 minutes and I should have the corrected version up.

It’s all good now. Thanks again man, and I’m glad you didn’t burn a lot of ink too. That’s always the worst! I think I will add a little bit in the pool sheet posts about checking for typos before printing from now on. It’s only been up a few hours so hopefully nobody got burnt on that. Usually I don’t get many hits on the post sheets until the day before.

I stumbled across a link to your site on mmaweekly. Love the sheets. I got everyone at work into it, some of them don’t even watch ufc. Are you going to make one for UFC 105 or do you only do the PPV events? Awesome work man.

    Question:

There’s a space for the round in which you predict the fight ends, but do you mark it if you’re predicting a decision? Saying it ends in round 3 usually means there’s a finish, while a decision means there wasn’t one. On MMA Playground, for example, when picking the time, you decide from 1R/2R/3R/Dec (if decision, then it asks for UD/SD/MD, which would probably over-complicate your pool sheet). Do you have an idea, or is it house rules?

Hey Scott, I was wondering about that too. I just told people that they could choose the last round if they think it is going to be a decision and possibly get max points. Or if they had some doubts about it going to decision than they could choose decision and maybe round 1 or 2 (non-title) and try to score some points for guessing the correct round if it ends by TKO/KO or Submission. I think it makes it a little more interesting this way.

Tdog, Scott, thanks so much for stopping by the site and the feedback. It means a lot and I hope you guys continue to enjoy the sheets over time. I can’t tell you guys enough how much I appreciate it.

Scott, I noticed this too during the last event. I think house rules for now, so whatever you guys want to do to figure it out should be in place for when your friends come over. However, I am working on it, you will see some changes coming next month.

I should give you guys a little background on the evolution of the sheet, which will help explain why it is currently this way…

If you look at the old UFC 102 pool sheet posted here in the sheets section, you will see it was a ‘pick the winner only’ system. That’s how we were doing it for years here at the house because most of my friends were not as hardcore as my brother and I about MMA. So it was just easier and fun, we kept it real simple. The girlfriends could also participate this way. The coolest thing about this is, I noticed as time went on, some of them really started to become hardcore fans. The sheet helped them learn the names of the less popular fighters and made them feel invested in the outcome. So I thought I would share the sheets here after I set up the site to see if others even cared about it. And so far, I have been really blown away by the feedback, the few fans that visit the site here are really getting into it. And many of them being hardcore fans (like you), are requesting more detailed cards. So, the obvious choice was to add rounds and method, and things like the fighters records including W/L records. The card is constantly evolving (based on feedback).

I have some new things I’m going to roll out with the card for the big UFC 106 event. Things like ‘bonus points’ for picking all three options correct in a fight (fighter/round/method). I’m also thinking about doing two cards for each event. One being very simple like the old ‘pick winner only’ system, and the other being more detailed like they are now for the more hardcore. This way, fans who just want something quick and simple for their parties have a choice and fans like us who want a more detailed card have one. But for now, I would say your house rules will have to be in place. This will give you a little more control of the situation. But the sheets are works in progress and together we will get this worked out.

Again, guys, thanks for using the sheets and checking out the site. Keep the feedback coming! And for you guys that are getting in on this while it’s still relatively new, I am trying to come up with something special for you. I think after the new year, I want to send you few die hard fans who have helped me with this, some shirts or an online gift certificate to your favorite MMA site/store, or something. I haven’t figured it out yet, but you guys mean a lot to this process and I will be hooking you up soon enough, so keep an eye on your email as I will send out the notices in the coming months.

Kevin, cool to hear how these pool sheets have evolved over time. The first thing people ask me when they see it is “Where did you get these? Oh justbleed.com” Even the most casual fans at my work were interested when they saw them. I know for a fact that half of them aren’t even going to watch the fight lol. The one thing people did mention was that they would like to have the fighter’s reach listed. I noticed the guys with the least mma knowledge will generally pick by the fighters record only and the reach I guess would help them. Anyway really looking forward to the UFC 106 sheets man.

Definitely dig the way you keep improving them. Totally agree about the gf thing, I was doing these for months, just cut and pasting from ufc fantasy page. Then a couple months ago I got the link to your sheets, and my old lady got in on it. She f\’n won it all too, which was cool actually so now I dont hear as much crap about fight nights. Still get it for watchin all the dream/sengoku, k-1 stuff though. Cant win em all.

You\’re doing a great job with these, no doubt – I hope my questions & requests aren’t annoying nitpicking. Most of my casual-fan friends generally pick the meaner, more muscular guy to win, but when they saw the 104 sheet with the records and methods of W/L, they actually started trying to figure out who would win & how. I think the detail is what makes the sheets work – else, if it’s just the winner-only variant, you can use blank copy-paper for that. If you really just want to play winner-only on the hardcore sheet, then just circle the winners and ignore the rest. Simple.

My big request is a listing of the weight each fight is at. Also, when listing the records, you show ‘10 ko/tko’ – could that just be simplified to ‘10 t/ko’ or ‘10 (t)ko’, etc? Less redundant information for the eye to process.

I like the note pad at the bottom – I can keep track of what I’ve wagered online & watch my money drift away…

Honestly, you don’t really need to send us anything. You’d be paying us for using your freely-distributed products, and that wouldn’t feel fair to me. You should totally promote these on as many sites as possible – Bloody Elbow, Sherdog, etc.
